The biodigesters will be fed with manure mixed with water, which will undergo anaerobic digestion and produce biogas that will be channeled directly to a cookstove. The replacement of non-renewable biomass and fossil fuels will reduce CO2 emissions. The biodigesters will also reduce methane (CH4) emissions by diverting manure that would otherwise decompose without the capture and use of the methane. IDBP will apply a multi-actor biogas sector development approach, which involves all kinds of local institutions and state entities. The biogas will be used for cooking and lighting and the effluent of the digesters will be applied to agricultural production.
