Analysis

Ejido La Libertad (SENDAS Co2munitario) is a Mexican forestry carbon project under the CAR standard with a VVB-verified combined additionality test and documented safeguards, but it is undermined by a massive discrepancy between ex-ante lifetime estimates and verified removals, contradictory leakage treatment, a missing buffer pool for a 100-year permanence claim, and low extraction confidence across the document set. The project carries significant over-crediting and dual-channel (CORSIA) risk that cannot be resolved with the available evidence.

  • Removal or reduction

    Carbon removal

Takes CO₂ out of the atmosphere — the only type that can neutralise residual emissions in an SBTi net-zero claim.

  • Paris Agreement (Article 6)

    No Article 6 authorization

No corresponding adjustment: the host country can also count this reduction towards its own target.
