Through carbon finance, we help cover the ongoing operational and maintenance costs of these plants, ensuring that cutting-edge, technology-driven solutions remain accessible and sustainable for the communities that need them most.   Project Impacts and Benefits Since its launch in September 2020, the project has delivered the following impacts for communities in coastal Kenya:   Climate Action (SDG 13):   The project prevents almost 27,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year by reducing the need to boil unsafe water, directly contributing to global climate goals. Good Health and Wellbeing (SDG 3):  In 2023 alone, over 37,000 additional people gained access to safe drinking water through the project, significantly reducing the risk of waterborne diseases. Gender Equality (SDG 5):  Households save more than two hours every day that was previously spent collecting water. This has a particularly positive impact on women and girls, freeing up time for education, livelihoods, and other opportunities.
