Score Breakdown
Integrity
verified The verification report (2022-12-22) confirms additionality using a common-practice test and reports no material findings or corrective actions.
missing Baseline method, leakage treatment, and any reversal-event reporting were not found in the extracted record, creating major uncertainty on credit robustness.
Transparency
verified A named VVB (DNV Business Assurance Finland Oy Ab) and a defined monitoring period (2020-12-01 to 2022-06-30) are provided in the verification record.
missing Claimed vs verified ERR totals were not found in the extracted record, limiting the ability to reconcile issuance with measured performance.
Claim Safety
verified A buffer pool contribution of 10% is stated, which can reduce some non-permanence/invalidity risk depending on the program rules.
missing CORSIA eligibility and CCP status were not found in the extracted record, and key drivers of over-crediting (baseline and leakage) are not documented here.
Documentation
verified The extracted record includes a dated verification report (2022-12-22) with no material findings and no corrective actions required.
missing Evidence document labeling is weak (listed as "unknown"), only two documents were used, and extraction confidence is only medium.
Detailed Analysis
Integrity
The verification report (2022-12-22) indicates additionality was assessed via a common-practice test and confirmed by the VVB, and it reports no material findings and no corrective actions. However, the baseline method and any baseline reassessment timing were not found in the extracted record, which is central for alternative-materials substitution crediting. Leakage deduction and justification were also not found, and reversal-event information was not found, so the robustness of net credited impact cannot be fully evaluated from the available extracted facts.
Transparency
Transparency is moderate because the VVB is identified (DNV Business Assurance Finland Oy Ab) and the monitoring period is clearly stated (2020-12-01—2022-06-30) in the verification record. At the same time, the extracted record does not include the claimed or verified ERR totals, preventing a basic reconciliation of what was measured versus what was credited. Methodology details are incomplete in the extracted record (methodology name not found, though version 2.7 is stated), which limits reproducibility of calculations.
Claim Safety
Claim safety is constrained by missing information that would allow an external party to test for over-crediting: the baseline method and leakage treatment were not found in the extracted record. A 10% buffer pool contribution is stated, which can improve resilience against certain risks depending on how the program applies buffers. CORSIA eligibility and CCP status were not found in the extracted record, so downstream claims about compliance-grade quality cannot be substantiated from these extracted facts.
Documentation
Documentation quality is mixed: there is a dated verification report (2022-12-22) and it indicates no material findings and no corrective actions required. However, the evidence document list is not specific ("unknown"), only two documents were used, and the minimum extraction confidence is medium, suggesting some limitations in document completeness/readability. Several core fields (baseline, leakage, ERR totals, safeguards specifics like FPIC and grievance mechanism) were not found in the extracted record.
Overall
Overall, the project shows some positive signals (VVB-verified additionality via common-practice test; no material findings in the verification report dated 2022-12-22). The main constraint is that critical quantification and risk-control elements—baseline approach, leakage treatment, and verified ERR totals—were not found in the extracted record, which elevates uncertainty and potential over-crediting/greenwashing risk. No contradictions were identified in the extracted record, so the score reduction is driven by evidence gaps rather than conflicting values. Note: if documentation were to score below 3.0, transparency would be capped by the gate rule; and if integrity were below 4.0, overall would be capped at 6.0 (applied after scoring).
Audit Analysis
The project has some integrity support from a VVB-verified additionality assessment (common practice) and no reported material findings in the verification report. However, key quantification elements for over-crediting risk (baseline approach, leakage treatment, and verified removals/ERR) were not found in the extracted record, limiting confidence in the credited impact.
Project Description
The Moelven Group is one of Scandinavia's leading timber companies. Their technology is world-leading, as demonstrated by the construction of the world's tallest timber building, the Mjøsa Tower in Norway, and the Stavanger Financial Centre, one of Europe's largest commercial buildings to be built in wood. Moelven's relentless focus on quality results in buildings that are "Built to last". Their Glulam joist and beams for commercial buildings sequester CO2 in a 100-year perspective. Moelven Limtre AS and Moelven Töreboda AB have production facilities in Norway and Sweden, where they produce glulam elements for the construction industry. Timber is sourced from local spruce and pine forests that are sustainably managed and certified with the PEFC chain of custody. As trees grow, they capture CO2. One ton of wood absorbs 1,8 tons of CO2 during the growth period, but the CO2 will be released back into the atmosphere if the tree decomposes or is used for paper or energy. However, in the case of bio-based construction materials, carbon is stored in the building for the long term, disrupting the normal carbon cycle and creating a net-negative process because sustainable forestry ensures that trees are re-planted. In the case of Scandinavia, overall forest coverage has increased over the last 40 years. In Europe, buildings are regulated to have a minimum lifetime of 50 years, but in reality, the CO2 storage is likely to be 100 years or more. In fact, by the time one of these buildings is demolished in 2080+, there is almost no likelihood that the stored CO2 will be allowed to be released to the atmosphere. The CORCs present an opportunity for companies to invest in carbon capture and storage and take proactive steps towards carbon net-zero. Moelven's ISO-certified, modern, and highly efficient production technology reduces waste to an absolute minimum. Waste byproducts are upcycled or re-used. Moelven's glulam products are cut-to-order and delivered to the customers.
Red Flags
- Baseline approach for alternative materials credits was not found in the extracted record, making over-crediting risk hard to judge.
- Leakage deduction and justification were not found in the extracted record despite being important for substitution/market effects in alternative materials claims.

Cosa migliorerebbe questo punteggio
- Publish or provide the specific baseline approach and key parameters used for substitution accounting (including any baseline reassessment timing) so third parties can reproduce the credited impact.
- Disclose leakage assessment results (deduction percentage and justification) and report claimed vs verified ERR totals for the monitoring period to enable reconciliation and reduce over-crediting risk.
Questi suggerimenti indicano quali prove pubbliche aggiuntive potrebbero migliorare il livello di confidenza di questa valutazione. Non garantiscono un punteggio futuro più alto.
