Analysis

This Gold Standard cookstove POA in Malawi has a VVB-verified additionality test and a quantified 21.88% leakage deduction, but is undermined by an extraordinary volume of corrective actions (24 items), seven material findings, and contradictions across nearly every key parameter including leakage, FNRB, ERR figures, and FPIC status. The 100% usage-rate assumption, unverified usage rate, and the fact that verified ERRs exceed the lifetime ex-ante estimate raise meaningful over-crediting concerns. The project's data reliability is further weakened by a four-year gap between the monitoring period (2017–2019) and the verification report (2023).
