Project Dourado is an enhanced weathering carbon removal project at the validation stage, with VVB-confirmed additionality and inherent permanence from mineral carbonation chemistry. However, six material findings (including arsenic concentration concerns, missing soil maps, and incomplete LCA), the absence of FPIC, untested carbon content, and a permanence-claim discrepancy between the PDD and validation report introduce meaningful uncertainty. The project is not yet in monitoring, so no verified removals exist to assess over- or under-delivery.

Red Flags

• ⚠Permanence claim discrepancy: the validation report (2026-03-30) states 10,000 years while the PDD states 1,000 years — a ten-fold difference that is unexplained in the available documents.
• ⚠Six material findings remain open at validation, including missing soil pH/texture/slope maps, insufficient arsenic concentration data, absence of a full LCA with ex-post data and uncertainty, and no chain-of-custody documentation for feedstock samples.
• ⚠Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) was not conducted, despite the project operating on agricultural land with local stakeholders.
• ⚠Carbon content of the feedstock was not independently tested and storage was not independently verified, leaving the core removal claim resting on project-supplied data.
• ⚠Leakage deduction is 0% with only a 'deemed negligible' justification and no quantified analysis.
